How to set up LED TV to Airtrack sound bar

But now, I am confused from multiple connections and settings.
I have a new ES6100 Smart TV and HWE 450 sound bar. The DVR is connected to the TV via HDMI. The TV is then connected to the sound bar via an optical cable. What settings are correct on the TV and sound bar? Can I use the new small sound bar supplied remote to control audio from both sources? Can I hear both the TV speakers and the sound bar speakers at the same time? (I understand I may have to sync them). Thanks for your help. Ben

You have several questions and clarifications, so allow me to break them down separately:

What settings are correct on the TV and sound bar?

Can I hear both the TV speakers and the sound bar speakers at the same time?
Yes, you can, provided you don't set the TV to external device for audio. You're also correct that there would be a delay.

Can I use the new small sound bar supplied remote to control audio from both sources? <div>Yes, you can use the sound bar remote to control any audio that comes into the sound bar, but I don't think that's your whole question. If you're asking whether the sound bar remote can control the volume levels on the TV at the same time, then no, it can't.
