Playing large media files from Hard Drive on Smart TV

Following set up-
MAC OS
1 Terabit Drive (Formatting unsure advice appreciated)

15 GB Media File (Format MKV but can change)

Samsung Smart TV (6700)

Problem-
I'm unable to determine what format the Hard Drive must be to play larger media files on the Smart TV.
FAT32 doesn't allow files larger then 4GB to be transferred.

Formatting to Mac OS Extended (Journaled) allows the file transfer; however TV does not recognise the Drive when connected.

Any advice greatly appreciated.

Sorry to do this to you, but just so you know: if you want Samsung support, I support US products and customers. And from what I can tell, this model is for Australia. (Correct me if I'm wrong.)And for compatibility issues like this, It's really best to contact the support for your country as they'll have more details for you. Here's the Samsung Australia portal for support on that product: http://www.samsung.com/au/support/model/UA55ES6700MXXY

I will hint that for our US TVs, they don't like the OS X HFS Plus system file, but they do support FAT16, FAT32, and NTFS. Hope this helps you!

Transfer large files to a PC formatted drive on a Mac

Try using Paragon Software:

http://www.paragon-software.com/home/ntfs-mac/

Lets you transfer files larger than your 4GB requirement to a Windows formatted drive.
