Purple band across the top of PN58C550

TV is almost two years old. Just recently noticed a purplish band about 3-4 inches wide across the top of the TV screen against scenes with a white background. Did some internet searches and found that this seems to be a common problem with Samsung plasmas. Will require replacement of the panel for $995 which is what I paid for the TV originally. Definitely will not go with Samsung again if I have to replace this one after only two years. Anyone else have this issue and how was it resolved?
