Samsung LN46C6670 TV Flickering

Our TV started flickering and growing dark almost one month to the day after our warranty expired. Having spent more than $1000 on the screen, I was not just disappointed, I was pissed! I later learned that there was a recall, but we were not notified and now we are beyond the claim period. I have been a huge fan of Samsung from my phone to my TV. That's no longer the case.
I'm sick and tired of planned obsolescence being built into products and companies trying to make consumers believe it's OK for a product that costs several hundred or thousands of dollars to break down within 12 to 24 months (Apple, Samsung,...).
I have products I bought 30 years ago for a fraction of those prices that still work today. I want my screen fixed and whole without having to pay for the repair.
It's ironic that as the quality of products decreases, the beauty of today's technology is that word of mouth is so easily distributed and available to the masses.
