Samsung DLP TV white dots Issue

I noticed that I have three white dots appearing on my Samsung DLP with the below specifications. Unit is passed the warranty period at this time.

After researching this issue, it appears that it has fell into an obvious defective part acknowledged by Samsung, however I am not sure if this is a universal recall.

It looks like this is a settlement recall for the defective DMD" chip designed by "TEXAS INSTRUMENT'S. Most post that read indicates that Samsung will do a one time repair for this problem.

Here is my model specification.

Model HLT5676SX/XAA
Serial Number AHDZ3CMP50210SE
VERSION PH01

I have not called Samsung yet, can anyone confirm there outcome with this well known and documented problem by consumers of Samsung DLP Televisions under those models affected.

I called Samsung and indicated my specific issue and they immediately knew what I was referring too based on a well known problem with the defective DMD" chip of these DLP models.

I have a transaction number and already have service scheduled for this week to correct problem even though warranty has expired. Obviously this is a recall defect with this chip that affected thousands of consumers.

WIll let you know how it turns out but customer service already said that replacing this chip will resolve problem with white spots on screen.

I have the same issue and called the tech support line tonite. The nice lady from the Phillipines was helpful (but VERY difficult to understand).

She told me that Samsung would provide a "one-time gratuity repair".

Promised a call back in 24-48 hrs from a service provider.

All well and good, we'll see how this goes.

But Mr Samsung, "a one-time gratuity repair" for a problem you caused? This is a hassle for me, as I have taken time to make a difficult call and will have to be here when the service-person comes. I think your sales pitch in fixing my problem needs a re-work.

How about an apology for selling a defective problem to start?
