hello
ive got Samsung Smart TV 46ES7500

i tried more than more to play movies files ( MKV , FLV ) it gave me " the selected file is not currently supported " in same time i tried to see my photos it can read but movies not !!

can help me please ??

I hope that's your set. I fetched the manual and around page 689 show what encoding may work.

MKV is a -> CONTAINER <- and not the encoding so you can't be sure such will show or play.

AVI is a -> CONTAINER <- and it play without problem !!

In fact my friend he can play it on his smart tv ? but mine not accept it ?

Some find renaming MKV to AVI to work so go with what works.

I don't want to upset you as you catch up on containers and encoding. I will discuss such but don't want to upset you or sound as if I'm talking down to you.

In the meantime, examine what works with MEDIA INFO (windows pc) and compare such with what does not work.

There is a big issue of content encoding and your consumer doesn't care about this. They just want it to work.

Such as transcoding the content to something that works. However there are consumers that want the makers to add more decoding support. I can't help there.

MEDIA INFO is one of the tools I use to investigate encoding that works and what doesn't work.
HANDBRAKE is one of the easier tools to use if you find it can encode for your product.

These are just a few of the free apps I use to fix up videos that don't play.
