Part of picture missing on Samsung LE37A556P

My TV is 4 years old and working brilliantly up to now. Recently notice that when we turn it on, the picture on the left of the screen, about 4 inches wide is missing. This lasts for about 10 minutes and then reverts to full screen again. If I change the picture size to 4:3 during this 10 minute period, I can see the picture fine.
Is this something I can fix myself, or would it need to be sent away? Is it likely to get worse?

A failure that has the tech replacing boards. As such is not user serviceable you arrange for repair in your country. My advice is to remove it from power until it's fixed.
