Anynet+ setup with ES7000 and HW-e450

Hi,
I have recently purchased an ES7000 TV with the HW-E450 sound bar.
I have the sounbar connected to the TV via optical and HDMI but I cant get the sounbar to turn on with the TV. It turns off ok.
I also have a sky+HD box but that is going HDMI to TV, should I go through soundbar?
Please let me know the ideal setup.

Hi Dan,

The recommended setup in the manual suggests going STB > HW-E450 > TV, all HDMI connections. It has the advantage of using pass through instead of ARC to play nicely with non-Samsung products, as sometimes non-Samsung products balk when interfacing with Anynet+, which ARC runs under as a feature. However, it has the disadvantage of having far fewer ports than you'd otherwise have, which for some people isn't a problem.

Thanks for the info. I have changed my setup to what you have recommended but now I still have to turn the sound bar on with its remote and also change the input to hdmi.
Any other ideas? What about unplugging the optical lead?

Hi Dan,

Unplugging the optical lead won't do anything to help the situation. However, you can try turning on Auto Power Link when using the optical connection. It's supposed to automatically turn the TV on, but I think it might be disabled when Anynet is on, and Anynet is what you'll want in order to control the volume from the TV remote. So you can try it Auto Power Link since you have the cables hooked up already, but just don't be surprised when it fails.

Otherwise, I'm out of ideas, as the devices are functioning in the way they were designed to be. The unfortunate reality is that you'll probably need to use two remotes in the end. Sorry.
