Clicking noise in external speakers using Samsung TV

I know someone else had this problem, but mine seems to be a different situation. I have a Samsung 46" led hdtv which I purchased in August. It has been working great, but when I set it to external speaker today, I started getting clicking noises in my home theater speakers. My amplifier for the speakers is hooked directly to my DVR cable box with an optical cable. Is it possible the cable is failing or should I be hooked up from the tv to my amplifier?

I'd be happy to help, but I need a few pieces of information on how your setup is:

- Model numbers for all the devices involved
- What's connected to what and how they're connected
- Which source(s) you are using when you hear the clicking

Technics AV control receiver model SA-DX1050
Motorola DVR model VIP-1216
Samsung led tv model UN48EH6000F

Optical cable from SPDF outlet on DVR to digital in optical 1 on AV receiver

HDMI cable from HDTV output on DVR to HDMI IN 2 on Samsung tv
Speaker select set to external.

Hi NevadaLarry,

Based upon the setup you gave me, it seems as though it's a problem between the Motorola and Technics. I'd suggest you contact your cable company and ask them about any issues with this particular model STB because I'd suspect that it's a source issue. One way to test this would be turn off the external speakers. If the clicking continues on the TV's speakers, then it's most likely the STB giving you some problems. If it stops, then it may be STB or the receiver giving you problems. In any case, it looks like the TV is behaving properly. Hope this helps!
