AllShare disconnects - useless

Another Samsung 'fail' - AllShare drops the connection to Serviio server randomly. Makes it useless as a player.

Same Serviio setup and media files play perfectly via XBMC on a Raspberry Pi.

I really have severe doubts that Samsung developers actually know what they are doing.

Reporting an error to Samsung service by their convoluted mail system is a total waste of time as the agents while polite are clueless in offering any practical help.

Odd requirement.

I thought AllShare was for Samsung things and devices. You seem to be trying to stretch what this app does.

Hi Bob,

Allshare is Samsung's flavor of DLNA. So while 3rd-DLNA software can work with Allshare, we don't support any problems.

I know people have used Serviio to act as a DLNA server before, so it's no stretch. I just can't help.

It's a stretch to call this a failure. It's an OK piece of work for a server but to push it to be used and I'm guessing a bit, like this with Servio means you are far outside the zone you can expect it to be supported.

Not so fast

Don't be so quick to dismiss this. I'm having the same issue using the samsung allshare server on my PC and a samsung BD-d6500 blu ray player.

It worked (fairly) well for several months, but since the last firmware update about a month or two again, you can count on it to lose connection about every 20 minutes or so.

I noted servio and you are using allshare. Be sure to call it in and ask how to go back to what worked.

Look at other posts in this forum and sadly, firmware updates can break stuff. If folk don't call in and report it here, they don't know they brought it.

-> Just yesterday my network was doing the oddest things. It had been fine for weeks but blammo. So off to research it and lucky me, it was being reported and I was lucky in that I was able to roll back a firmware version in one device. I'm back in business.
