Ahhhhhhhh! I have the 50" PN50B860Y2F that I purchased in March 2010. I did all the research, gorgeous picture and got it as a birthday present. The dreaded horizontal black lines showed up at 1.5 years. Customer service performed exactly as every review and thread depicts only worse. They were inexcusably rude even from moment 1. The out of warranty process began with a site visit. The verdict was "bad panel". That is a thousand bucks plus or minus. The technician told me to go buy a new TV. At that point I went back to Samsung customer service and asked if I could purchase the parts at cost (or close). This conversation turned ugly driven by their rudeness and they hung up on me after telling me that I should purchase a new TV and if they were in my shoes, would purchase a different brand. WOW! Whoever directs this group needs to go to "Charm" school and then send his/her people. The experience was actually shocking even being prepared for it. The boards are inexpensive for these TV's as they age and I took a last ditch effort to fix by replacing the boards before tossing the unit in the trash (recycler). Sadly (very sadly), it is the panel... I loved it while it lasted but we are progressively up to about 20 lines and just can't live with it anymore. If a panel is available in expensively, I might still give it a go but that is the story. Moral to the story.... Purchase the extended warranty, keep you expectations lower than the "old" days, avoid Samsung products.
