this is a great phone that i bought when it came out in 2006. i had verizon but i switched over specifically because of this phone. anyway, in order to make this phone work on tmobile, i had to get into it and enter data like "profile title"(t-mobile gprs), connection profile, name (in this case it was wap.voicestream.com). i only know all this because i have all that info copied on my hd. i remember i had to dial in an odd sequence of numbers, hit call, and when asked for a password i entered something like 00000. it took me to all those settings that i had to change.

i remember getting this info from some forum long gone by now.

so you're saying all i have to do is pop in a sim card and all that stuff gets reset? i oughta go ask att.

You wrote it was "unlocked" then later asked a question about changing it.

Here I take an unlocked phone, slide in the sim and can make calls. I would be guessing that this phone is not really unlocked.

I suggest a forum where folk twiddle with phones a lot like HOWARDS FORUMS. You may have to repeat the same settings changes you did before but something is odd here. I've used unlocked phones (have one on my desk in fact) and never had to do anything you noted for the usual unlocked GSM phone.
