Hi there,
Called up the Samsung support team today regarding my Samsung UA40D6600 40" 3D LED TV. I was unable to find the complete model number and the Serial number. I was told that these numbers can only be found from the back of the display. Since the display is wall mounted I was having a hard time to find that out. I would like to know if there is any other way off the inbuilt TV software to find out the code.

Make a note of that info before mounting it on the wall. Keep that note in your user manual. And be sure you don't forget where that is!

I shall do that. The sole purpose of starting this discussion was to find an alternate solution on retrieving the information off the GUI on the TV.

I'm afraid they don't put the serial number IN the TV. Just ON the TV (on a sticker). That's called mass production. But I might be wrong. Let's wait for the Samsung representative here.

Hi coprocessor,
Generally speaking, Kees is right. The most straightforward method is to look on the back of your TV. Depending on the model, however, you can sometimes press Menu > Support > Contact Support, and there will be information on the model at least and sometimes the serial number.

Seems looking at the back of the TV is the only option. The Contact Support/Samsung option does not provide the complete Model Number details. Serial number information is not available at all. Thanks for all your help guys.

What about the serial number on the box.
Should they match with the serial number on back of TV display?

Sort of. The serial number on the box is incomplete, so it's the serial number, just not all of it.
