Samsung forum: Anynet+ Switching Receiver Input to TV/CD automatically

This issue doesn't appear to be related to AT&T U-verse, it happens also when using the Playstation 3 - the input automatically changes by itself. Any other ideas?

If they don't fix it, then return it. Be a consumer in this cases. Sorry I didn't read it did it to the PS3 but again, the cable can be the cause. Don't ask how I know.

its a problem with Samsung's Anynet+ and the Onkyo both having the HDMI controls on, which is probably what you want...so you need to change in the onkyo menu, the input for that cbl/sat hdmi input to tv/cd. it will then technically not change it when you turn the tv on. it's a pain but whatever.

Yes that stops the behavior but then the SmartTV audio doesn't work unless I manually change the Onkyo to TV/CD. Same behavior happens with a friend who has a Yamaha receiver.

Sure, turning off Anynet+ will prevent the Samsung TV from changing the Onkyo's input, but it also breaks ARC. ARC was the primary reason I bought a nice mounted TV and upgraded the receiver. It's not a huge deal, since I only use that for OTA broadcasts which I never watch, but why can't Input Control and ARC be decoupled? Since the TV is the source of these, I'd expect this to be a change at your end rather than Onkyo's.

I even tried using the Sub output on the Onkyo and setting the Samsung to HDMI1, but it still changed inputs.

Thanks for your question. Unfortunately, those two functions are bound together in the HDMI-CEC specification, which is what Anynet+ is. The programming for Anynet+ is to find the receiver and switch to that first so that sound can come through it. The delay is due to the time used by the receiver powering up and then sending out the signal that it's online. So that's why this happens.
