Wondering if someone tech savvy can help me out here.
I recently bought this TV - Model: LN40D630M3 from Best Buy.
It's advertised as 1080p and 120Hz but I can't work out how to set it to that.
I'm not very tech savvy but whenever I press the info button on the remote it says 1920x1080i @ 60Hz.
I'm not sure if I need to set it up to be 1080p rather than 1080i or if I need to switch on 120Hz instead of 60Hz. Maybe someone can tell me whether it's a problem with the TV or a problem with my source settings (Time Warner Cable box info says: 1920x1080i @ 60Hz; Xbox360 says:1920x1080 @ 60Hz; and Samsung BluRay player says 1920x1080 @ 60Hz - BR Player and Xbox are both 1080 not 1080i).
I'd appreciate some advice as I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong and can't work out how to make it right - and I'm not particularly tech savvy so don't really know what all of this means other than I specifically bought this TV for it's specs and I don't seem to be utilizing them at present.

This info you see is about the input signal and not about the "panel rate."
Nothing's wrong here but it appears to be a lot of confusion about this. I'll stick with short answers.
1. That's the input rate.
2. There is no on/off to the 120Hz.
3. Many of the cable boxes are 1080i for very simple reasons. I'll not go into why here.
But looking at http://www.timewarnercable.com/nynj/site.faqs/digitalcab/On-ScreenG/Navigator/How-do-I-change-the-screen-res you can see that it did not offer 1080p.

Thanks for the response.
I didn't realize that about TWC. I still don't totally get it but shouldn't my xbox or BR player be 120Hz and/or 1080p though? I just want to make sure that everything is running to it's optimum specifications.

The PANEL RATE is 120Hz. At no time is any input going to be anything other than the usual 60Hz and the other usual 24Hz rate. The extra frames are used either to do motion smoothing (Soap Opera Effect) or so the 24Hz can be displayed (120Hz can be evenly divided by 60 and 24.)
Sorry but this area usually needs a lot of replies until it sinks in. The quick answer is nothing is wrong yet.
