Samsung LED 6420 & iPad 3 Samsung Remote Control App

My brother and sister in law purchased the Samsung 6420 LED TV. I downloaded the Samsung Remote Control App on their iPad 3. The information given by the developer, which is Samsung, says that the TV is supported.
We followed all the instructions and the app gives the following message:
"No device. Both your smart phone and device should be connected to the same access point. Please check your network settings."
Ideas? I called Samsung Technical support. They weren't much help.
Network access and remote access is turned on in the TV settings. iPad and TV are connected to the same access point.
