Problem when connecting laptop to lN-52B750 with resolution

When I connect my laptop to the tv via HDMI 3 slot, I get a beautiful picture @ a res of 1920 x 1080. This is what I expected and it is the max resolution. However the picture of the desktop from the laptop is too big for the TV screen. I am loosing about 1 inch of the screen from the computer on all sides. I tried to drop the resolution on the computer down, and when I did the screen got even bigger with a large loss of the desktop. Is there any fix for this so that the 1920 x 1080 will fit perfectly on the tv screen? MY son has a newer Samsung TV, and is having the same problem.

what is your operating system on your laptop or pc?are you using windows 7?
Did you try to choose the option "connect to a projector"
how?
Go to the desktop>right click>choose screen resolution>connect to a projector..then try to projector only or duplicate ...this will recognize your tv and allows you to choose the best resolution that suits you
