DLNA and external HD problems with Samsung TV and Blu-ray

I'm hoping to receive an answer from the Samsung_HD_Tech or someone who has overcome this problem.
I have Samsung 46" Class LCD 1080p 60Hz HDTV (LN46D503) and the Samsung BD-E5700 WiFi Blu-ray Disc Player. My computer is an early 2008 24" iMac.
I am trying to play a 1080p Blu-ray movie file. I downloaded TVMOBiLi to use in conjunction with the Allshare feature on my Samsung Blu-ray but the video stuttered every few seconds. When I plugged the Blu-ray into the modem directly via an ethernet cable, the video no longer stuttered but the audio and video un-synced every couple of minutes.
I then tried plugging a Maxtor One Touch III Mini Edition 120GB USB 2.0 Hard Drive directly into the Blu-ray but the Blu-ray wouldn't recognize the Mac OS Extended (Journaled) format. I tried reformatting the drive to a MS-DOS (FAT) but it wouldn't let me copy the 8.5 GB video file. Apparently FAT formats won't accept anything over 4 GB. Finally, I reformatted the drive again, this time to exFAT but the Blu-ray player wouldn't recognize that either.
I did some more research and read that an NTFS format would work but my Mac's Disk Utility doesn't offer that option and I couldn't find any simple freeware programs to help.
Does anyone know of an alternative solution? Am I doing anything wrong? Again, I'd like to hear from the Samsung_HD_Tech but if anyone has dealt with these problems before and had success, I would appreciate your input as well. Thank you for your time.
