Samsung forum: Does there exist a Samsung Laptop with PCMCIA Express slot ?

OK, well I guess the correct term is "Express Card" but it evidently took over for PCMCIA bus expansion peripherals and is also a high speed connection to the bus. Wikipedia also says "PCMCIA devices can be connected to an ExpressCard slot via an adapter." which indicates that it is most likely also a parallel bus interface.

So, from what I am hearing from you, Bob, Samsung does NOT have an Express card slot OR ieee 1394a so
I guess this subject has been resolved.

Too bad too as I really liked the feel of the Samsung laptop I saw at Best buy yesterday.

My RME Fireface 800 $1,500 (US) professional interface DOES use Firewire and I cannot just change it to be USB 3.0.

And my OLD video camera certainly does use Firewire as well, not that I need it except to
transfer tapes.

I am finding that the web sites that sell laptops do NOT give complete specifications. This includes
how many USB ports and whether they are 2.0 or 3.0... Very very few anyway give this informaiton.
Sometimes you can't even find out of that 320 GB hard drive is 5400 or 7200 RPM.

On the Dell site, you can't even get the installation disks including driver DVDs.
Not an option when selecting features.

Technology sales assumes the buyer is stupid, which they may very well be on average these days.

I'm pretty disgusted with the laptop sales methods these days.

Yes, I'm sure they can adjust the RPM to save power. This is good !
I went to the Dell business portion of their site and even Dell did not display the
information I wanted to know. Dell has been a standard for us for years.

I also have a couple old Dells with 1394 but they are slower (1.5 GHz) and my current Macbook
Pro has Firewire 800 which works, but I of course would like my next laptop to be able to
run my external 1394 audio box. Might just have to buy another Macbook but I really do NOT
want to buy another Apple product because of their business practices (and high prices !)

I went to look and sure enough... It's got the Express Card option when ordering !

I went through all of the motions to buy one and then their VISA authentication
stuff crashed on me. Then went to my bank on the phone and it's not
working either. Computer problems everywhere ! Can't even buy a
stooopid laptop !!

BTW, it ~looks~ like it also has 1394, but I only found that on a Q&A on Dell's site so
still nothing in writing anywhere. ALSO, regarding this, Dell has these pictures you
can supposedly look at, titled "Features" and it's thumbnail shows the side of the laptop, but
when I go to click on the pictures, that picture is NOT one of them !! Arrrgggg!!!!
