Thank you for your answer, but unfortunately this is not the case. The problem is that you can not get audio output if you play dvix files from usb flash drive plugged in to TV. The sound plays only to TV built in speakers but not to external amplifier (speakers).

The playback from USB is hit and miss. I offered one of the many reasons it fails. There are others. To work around this we put the content on some media player and may have to run optical from the player to the 5.1 sound system.

Most of why all this is not working has its roots in the HD content protection systems.

You find the one of the rules about content protection (HDMI, HDCP, etc.) is that if a device can render content then anything that passes through shall be standard definition or stereo. This seems to confound some when it comes to USB content but since today's HDTVs are tightly controlled content renderers these rules tend to extend to other content and sources.

I can only guess what you've researched on this but had hoped to make it easier for you to catch up.

Thank you again for your answer. I tried many things to sort this thing out, but no luck. As it is for content protection, I think this is not the case as the video recorded with home camera should have played normally. Or maybe I don't understand you entirely. Can you be maybe a little bit more specific ?

But it's why the things work the way they do. I'm not here to convince you. I thought I'd help you find out more about this area so you don't lose a lot of time chasing after this area like a lot of folk do. I don't know how more specific you want this to be, that is, HDMI/HDCP and the rule about content rendering is something on the web.

There is an exception in the rules for OTA but not USB.
