Samsung forum: Samsung remote for I pad And iPhone not working

Ok - so now that all of the recent content (including that of the moderators) has been deleted from the other thread regarding the Samsung TV Remote iPad app a few things need to be restated.
We need confirmation of who actually developed the original (and superior to myTifi IMO) app that a squillion unhappy users have reported no longer works since IOS 5.1 was released. A moderator announced that it was developed in-house by Apple but was quickly refuted by another poster. Post number two on this thread would seem to indicate that it was indeed developed by Samsung.

Samsung need to stop acting as if every enquiry they get regarding the faulty app is the first one they have received. It doesn't take a PhD in Rocket science to figure out that either the app needs fixing or the Samsung TV operating system needs fixing. One could infer that they have a huge stockpile of those gargantuan $99.00 remote control devices with the QWERTY keyboard that they want to sell and so are in no hurry to fix the free app.

I followed the instructions supplied by the myTifi (alternative app) developer and they worked but that is the only place where you can effectively use the iPad virtual keyboard and the implementation is totally clunky and counter intuitive. For example, you can search for and play a YouTube video but after it finishes and the app returns to the YouTube interface you can forget about using the iPad keyboard unless you return to the global Search function on the TV and start all over again. Similarly you can't use the iPad keyboard to type text into the URL address text box in the web browser.

Ok - so maybe I have missed some obscure combination of commands and/or gestures that will address the difficulties I have experienced above but that is not really the point. The whole metaphor (regarding the virtual keyboard implementation) is wrong in that myTifi does not adhere to the Apple standard which is all about an app being intuitive and ultra easy to use.

Anyway, all I really wanted was to be able to simply search for and play YouTube videos using the iPad keyboard and now, thanks to the developers of ZappoTV HD, I have that facility using a free app that is elegant in ALL respects. Many thanks to ZappoTV, Inc. - your iPad app is brilliant !!

I didn't get the notice but some members will scream the post is locked when it bottoms out.

For that issue, reply to the top post please. It's a bug or limitation.

Sorry- the posts were not deleted. There must have been something going on with my browser. I have restarted Explorer and all of the content is there.
