First of all, let me apologize for posting something that seems to have been asked/answered several times, it's just been a long week and I suck at the search function right now. Sorry for being a lazy git.
I have the RX-V671 which I just updated with the latest firmware. Connected to that unit is a Samsung SmartTV (D6420 if it matters) that I've also updated the firmware on.
I have all of the ARC features ON on the receiver (HDMI Control: ON, Input HDMI1 -> Audio In: HDMI1). On the TV I've turned ON Anynet+ (HDMI-CEC), Auto Turn Off, and Receiver.
With that setup, the TV (and cable) remote can change the volume with no problem. When I press the POWER button on the TV (or cable) remote, the TV and receiver turn off without issue. When I press it again to turn everything on, only the TV turns on. Worse, when I turn the receiver on, it initially switches to the HDMI1 input so I get sound, but quickly changes to AV4 where I get no sound (I have not connected the optical cable yet). So I have to manually switch it back to HDMI1. The TV does have an ARC HDMI connector, which is what I'm using. Once that pain is over, it works great.
With that setup is it possible to prevent the receiver from switching to AV4? Is it possible to get the receiver to power up when the TV is turned on?
If I turn OFF the Anynet+ on the TV, the TV/cable remotes no longer control the volume, but turning on the TV no longer switches the receiver to AV4.
Am I basically hosed here, the devices not work and play well together? If that's the case, I don't suppose there's an easy way to hack/root either device to work with the other?
