Thanks for your reply.. Things have moved on since the sharing of DVD over lan or Aynet or DLNA.
Samsung now market there External Blue ray readers as ODD devices, and they specify in the manual
that it can be directly connected to a LCD that complies with the new ODD AV connectivity standard.
The brochures and web links on this product clearly show illustrations of it connecting directly, but also a disclaimer, that the equipment must support this new standard.
I was hoping a SAMSUNG product representative could provide details of which new model Samsung LCD/LED

Although a normal ODD cannot be connected to a TV directly, the product can be connected to devices (TVs, digital frames, etc.) that support USB interfaces and can then be used as a USB memory device. "AV Connectivity" refers to this functionality. "
