The only security options my router has is WEP, WPA-PSK and WPA-802.1x.

It would be best to move to WPA-2 but if not, try the others and be sure of those WiFi channels.

Sorry, I'm only 14. I understand basic router security but the other options seem very complicated to change. Would it be best to disable the security temporarily to see if it is a security problem, or do you advise something else?

I just disabled the security and tried connecting again on the television, but was told that the IP Auto Set Up failed and that I should ensure that the DHCP Server is enabled on the router. I entered the manual IP Settings but that didn't work either. Anything else you can suggest?

I have just read that other discussion and sort of understand. My routers channel is currently set to 1 but I don't understand what I should change it to, and don't want to play around with the settings to find that all of my other devices stop working. Anything you can suggest to do with this as well?

Then you would know that channel is in all regions so it appears you need to read it again.

Why I can't offer much is simple. All the detail is missing. Such as make, model, firmware version of router, settings different from stock and distance to the TV.

Remember to keep that distance under 20 feet for the first setup.

I'm not having much luck with any of this. I have tried for about 10 hours to get this sorted but have got nowhere. The router is the old black Sky Netgear box (which has no model number as it's Sky's own model). If you can't suggest anything, would you be able to tell from what I have said that it is a router problem or a TV problem, and if there is any way of telling?

But there are known fixes such as using a second router as a WAP when I can't replace the router.
