Not able to view ITV Player on Samsung D7000 Smart TV

Having purchased a Samsung D7000 Smart TV and being able to view BBC iplayer I was disappointed that I cannot view the ITV Player. I'm told it is something to do with Apps authority. Why can I view it on a small Acer Tablet but not this so called super smart TV? It shouldn't be called smart because it isn't. Samsung support can give no indication of when and if this might be resolved.

Why not ask ITV when they release a player for your Samsung?

http://forums.itv.com/thread/999974.aspx says they use Microsoft Silverlight. Silverlight is only available for Windows. And your TV doesn't run Windows, alas (in fact, no TV's do).

http://www.itv.com/itvplayer/android/ says they also have it for Android (that's what your netbook runs, probably) and iOS (that's iPad and iPhone). But apparently not yet for Samsung TV's. It says "Please refer to our FAQs for more information or contact us at: itv.comsupport@itv.com". So that's the place to ask. Can you tell us what they answer?

However, if your PC or laptop has HDMI out, you can easily connect it to the HDMI of your PC and view ITV Player that way on the TV.

Many thanks for the advice. I have finally received a reply from ITV and this is what they said:
<font size="2" face="Trebuchet MS">"We are always looking at a variety of options for making ITV programming and
associated content available to viewers via various platforms; however we have
no current plans to make ITV Player available on Internet based TV's alongside
BBC player. We will contact you as soon as we have more information"</font>
<font size="2" face="Trebuchet MS"> with the proliferation of internet TV's this seems a bit short sighted.</font>

As I read http://www.wired.com/epicenter/2011/12/tv-microsoft-right-apple-wrong/ you see the issue of where the industry is heading. Content delivery is getting big as folk cut the cable.

In England it may be rough as I think they still have the teletax.
