Samsun LED TV won't turn off ...

Okay, I have a weird problem, and it seems to be getting worse: my Samsung LED 6300 55" TV just won't turn off... I'm having to unplug the bloody thing. Letting it set like this (has to be >hr), things go back to norm until the TV is heavily used again (basically the next night).

What's happening: when I go to power down the TV the power-down chime gets cut off, and the TV turns itself back in.

I've had something similar happen when turning it on, but it only happened once ... the chime gets cut off, and TV reverts itself back to its previous state (in this case; off -- the above case; on).

I've checked for firmware updates; but the TV tells me there are none.

What's happening? How can i fix this?

As I write this; I tried turning it off again, but it failed. This time, now it's trying to turn itself back on, but it's failing: the chime gets cut-off and the TV goes into a cycle: goes into a loop trying to start up. Each time the chime is cut-off and TV powers down, and try to start up again....

I'm sorry to hear that you're having this issue.

Based on your description, there's not much in the way of troubleshooting I can offer. I'd recommend having the unit serviced. There's no setting that will change it from powering down and turning back on.

Any idea what may be the cause? Everything falls back into place after being off for a period of time: tried 5-15 mins, no go. But leaving it unplugged overnight seems to "soft-fix" it. That is until heavy use again (on for 1+hrs).

Could the TV be overheating? I find that hard to believe being LED. But heat is the only thing I can think of that'll dissipate over time like this.

I can't diagnose that, although LED typically runs pretty cool.

I still think you should have it inspected by a tech. Clearly it's not operating normally, and knowing that, it's my best suggestion - to get it looked at professionally.

I was trying to avoid that since service down here isn't as easy to come by -- I live on the Virgin Islands, not every place has real, official, techs. Not to mention many large companies (like Samsung) generally don't have a presence here.

Will the normal Samsung numbers assist in locating any Samsung techs down here? Or should I just ask around locally for somebody?

There may be limited coverage in the Virgin Islands. You can try, but I think most people who have posted here regarding repairs have done them with local techs.
