Flickering on 3D TV

My main problem with Samsung 3D TVs is obviously the flickering, which bothers so many people and causes headaches and nausea. I know that this is inevitable due to the active technology and that it gets worse if the 3D glasses aren't recharged after almost every viewing...
But what is being done to solve this problem??
I know that Samsung 3D TVs have pretty good quality... but what is being done to go more towards the flicker free direction?? Like LG Cinema 3D or Vizio's passive 3D TVs?
Also, the heavyweight glasses... can't something be done about how uncomfortable they are?
I'm asking because the quality is indisputably great... just that the nausea doesn't seem worth enjoying it..
