Again, I'm sorry; didn't mean to be off-putting. You asked if it was available, and I told you that it wasn't. I didn't say there never would be. Mlipst posted this information two weeks ago, and I'd expect a change like this to take several months. I realize you may not like to hear that, but in light of how you reacted to my earlier statement, I figured you'd rather me be upfront with you now rather than hearing "it's not currently available" for several months. Sorry I couldn't be more definite with you on the 'when'.

As to the how, updates like these are pushed via firmware. So check the website on a regular basis, or if you just want to automate it, connect your TV up to your network and let it search for updates itself.

Thanks HD Tech, can you clarify if the firmware update required will be for the TV or the sound bar itself (or both)?

Thanks for your replies, I to spent ages trying to get this to work but in the end gave up and started looking on the internet for a solution. Then I found your reply saying Samsung have accepted there is a problem and are working on a firmware fix however this was months ago.
Have you any more news for us or do you think it's been forgotten about?

Thanks for the quick reply and I am not sure if I should have started a new thread because I have the same problem but have an ES8000 and HW-E450

I bought an ES8000, it's such a nice TV with great picture quality, style and every feature you could want but it's not cheap.
2 of the big selling points are its design (very thin and tiny bezel ) and voice control.
Anyone buying one of these sets knows, if you want better sound you will need a soundbar, so I bought the HW-E450, what you do not expect is you won't be able to use voice control to turn it on any more, saying "Hi TV, Power on" just turns the TV on and not the soundbar.

Surly, such a minor bug should be a quick and easy firmware fix.
Why is it taking so long, if it takes much longer the warranties will be running out for some customers.

Could you please contact Samsung on our behalf for an official response?

I'm having a similar problem with the D550. I have a Samsung TV, but not one with ARC. I have connected my cable box (TiVo) to the D550 via an HDMI cable and then I have the TV connected to the D550. Audio and video work fine (as does Anynet+) when the D550 is on HDMI.1. However, the D550 will automatically switch to DIGI.1 (especially within the first minute after I power on my TV and soundbar). When the D550 switched to DIGI.1, I lose video as well. My guess is that the D550 thinks I have ARC since i have Anynet+ on and switches to DIGI.1. Does that sound possible?

One work-around I had was to connect my Tivo via optical cable to the D550 and then connect the video directly to the TV via HDMI. I then ran a "dummy HDMI" cable from the D550 to an unused HDMI port on my TV so I could still use Anynet+. This allowed me to control the volume (even when on DIGI.1) with my TV remote using Anynet+ and automatically turned off the D550 when I turned off the TV.

Any other suggestions?

I figured out that the soundbar switches to DIGI.1 because I have a DVR (TiVo) connected to DIGI.1 and it is constantly sending audio to the soundbar. The soundbar detects audio on the optical cable from the TiVo and swtiches back to DIGI.1 unless audio has already started on my HDMI.1 input.

I noticed that after I power up the soundbar, if I first select HDMI.1 and then turn on my device it almost always results in the soundbar switching back to DIGI.1. If however, I first switch the TiVo to the menu (pressing the TiVo button), the audio from the TiVo is silenced and the soundbar does not switch back.

This "feature" of auto-switching to DIGI.1 when audio is present should be turned off.

Has this problem been solved? I have a new Samsung TV (7500 series) and the 450 Sound Bar. I can change the volume with my Comcast remote and shut everything off but cannot turn on the Sound Bar unless I use it's own remote. Similar to the problems listed above, some a year old. Has this issue not been fixed yet?!

The firmware fix is not yet available. I posted that response above just a couple of weeks ago. You will need to check the Samsung downloads for your TV, periodically. The workaround provided below will still result in needing two remotes, since the only thing you will able to do with the soundabar remote is turn on/off your equipment and change the volume. You will still need your TV or universal remote to do everything else.

Thanks, milpst. It's like the right hand doesn't know what the left hand is doing. Do these people get it?

I have just found a way to turn off the auto off when in the anynet menue on the tv. This means I can leave the soundbar on 24/7 and use the one tv remote to do the volume using both HDMI lead for Anynet link and Optical for sound link.

Not great but I no longer have to do anything when I turn on the TV to get the TV remote to work the Soundbar
One other thing I have noticed is when I set the dimmer function to auto then turn off the soundbar, the next time I power up I heve to set the dimmer again ? why does it not store its last command ? or is it me ?

What is the problem of one leaves the sound bar on all the time?
