C650 LCD warranty repair: can I request a different panel?

I bought a 40C650L1KXXU three weeks ago. It has one dead pixel, but the bigger problem is the CMO panel with its poor black level and screen uniformity issues. Also, one of the main reasons I bought this particular model was a supposed lack of undefeatable auto-dimming, but my set changes brightness even with dynamic contrast off. Could it be caused by a firmware upgrade? Or is it something else?

I was told that the panel would be replaced with what's in stock, probably the same one. I suspect it will have the same problems, and unless it malfunctions, I'm stuck with it.

Has anyone had any luck getting their panel replaced with a higher-quality one? I'd prefer an AUO.

But so far, it's pot luck and you get a panel that meets the model's specs.
