Samsung forum: Samsung vs Hulu Plus

I tested the Hulu Plus on a BD-C6900 I have at home, and the service was available. I reset the player to factory defaults, downloaded Hulu Plus again, and it - again - worked correctly.

I'm not sure what this suggests, but the player and the service work together in a non-lab setting.

Go to the Menu > Settings > System > Clock > Manual > And set the time and date manually.

See if that helps launch Hulu successfully.

Do the other Apps connect, is your network traffic available, any firewalls, or the usual network suspects in play possibly?

We are having the same issue here at our house... everything was working just fine and then all of a sudden we get that same error message. Did you ever figure out what to do to get it to work? AGH! Thanks!

No resolution. Hulu and Samsung were clear, they don't have any interest. Seriously disappointing as the Samsung set up is not cheap, so not worth the money or the time.

I am seeing more complaints from other customers on other sites as well so maybe you are right, they will figure it out if it impacts enough customers. If it expands to other devices so much the better for those of us waiting for a fix.

I too find it annoying but it's picky about that.

There are a lot of things that must be perfect for these apps to work and since we have our internet connection which can be any number of things wrong. But wait let's get something out of the way first.

Consumers don't want to know all this technical stuff. They just want it to work.

If you don't want to look into the technical stuff, just call the 1800SAMSUNG and start asking for help.

Ok, we have a lot of ideas about networking Samsung but why not reload the Hulu app? Hulu and the others are tinkering with these all the time and they go and break it over and over and over. At least we know Samsung is not writing it so we don't do much more than call it in.

We are having the exact same issue, and have been for the past 2 months. One of the main reasons I bought the Samsung was to use Hulu and now it doesn't work. We've gotten nowhere with both Samsung and Hulu. If I could return the TV I would.

I get that Samsung doesn't write and maintain the app but they do advertise that their products work with Hulu. They should take the equipment back if their equipment doesn't perform as advertised. No one is paying for a Smart TV that only works with some of the advertised apps some of the time for some of their customers. They don't offer enough apps to make the loss of Hulu negligable. Maybe if they had a better line up losing Hulu wouldn't matter but they don't so it does.

I've had my Samsung 6300 series TV online for three months now directly connected to the internet via Ethernet interface. I know I have networking because Netflix, You Tube, etc. work. I doubly tested by taking Ethernet cable directly into my laptop and ran hulu plus on my laptop with no problems. I hook up the Ethernet to the TV, verified the tv has a date and time, and I get the same network error. This was why I purchased the TV to be able to access the internet and my hulu plus account. Can someone give me an answer as to what is going on. Is it the app?

This problem has not been resolved.

I cannot delete a recommended app and reinstall if this is the case.

I'm having the same issue here and I have a Samsung BluRay (BD-D5700) that was working fine. I've reset the factory settings several times on the Blu-ray player as well as the SmartHub. I've also power cycled my modem, my router, and my Blu-Ray player. Is there really not a fix to this because Hulu Plus adds enormous value to the viewing experience.

Also...this was certainly a Samsung problem, my Roku was working fine with Hulu Plus (via SAME network) and so was my laptop....only the Samsung had issue with Hulu Plus.

Thought I'd add more info to this thread, for anyone else having this problem, or for any Hulu or Samsung people that are looking for more data.

I have this same problem too, after my BD-E5700 worked fine with Hulu for 2+ months. I noticed when I booted the device up one night (early October 2012), it grabbed an update and then Hulu wouldn't open. Although the YouTube app still works just fine.

I tried the steps that shangrace posted. I've also tried cycling my modem/router, using an ethernet cable instead of the wireless setup, changing the DNS server settings, a major factory reset (by holding the "play" button down while there is no disk in the device), and of course setting the date/time. I've been on the phone with Hulu and did a live-chat with Samsung. After Hulu exhausted their ideas, they said they'd get their developers to look into. Samsung apologized after they took me through resetting things and told me to call Hulu (even though I already had).

If anyone has got their devices working, or has any other information or suggestions, I'd love to hear about it. I'm a big fan of both Hulu and Samsung and would really like to see this get fixed.
