Samsung forum: Samsung Smart TV Wireless Keyboard

Samsung, please put a keyboard and mouse solution as a priority,

I just purchased a Samsung 60D7000 Smart TV. One of the major reasons for selecting this TV was its built-in WiFi and Internet capability. Although the picture is great, there were quite a few other TVs in the store with pictures just as good.
The QWERTY remote was a nice touch, as I could try out the web browser shortly after I turned on the TV the first time--WiFi and Internet setup was a breeze.
However, I was stunned that I could not connect a real keyboard to one of the USB ports. Obviously, this was my fault--I didn't research that point before purchasing.
A few points:
This TV may be primarily a TV set, but it is most certainly a computer. I won't get into the argument about the lack of keyboard support being or not being a design flaw or not, but it is certainly an oversight. No one who is comfortable with a PC keyboard will be satisfied with the QWERTY remote keboard. In fact, I doubt that the veteran "texters" will appreciate the remote keboard because the remote is not shaped like a smart phone.
I concur with everyone posting to this thread--this TV needs support for a generic wireless keyboard.

In the US, it is compatible with TV Models LED: D6300 series and above, and Plasma: D6450 series and above.

I can't speak for UK/UE models, but it's that way in the U.S. Check with your local Samsung customer service center for further assistance.

I found this topic searching for " Samsung smart tv qwerty keyboard ". I have the new 2012 smart 64" plasma tv. It came with a nice double sided remote and I have been using it for a month now. It is a very good idea, but not working well for my 63 year old hands. I am looking for a larger keyboard that maybe Samsung offers as an accessory for using on the wifi part of the system. We have a Sony Google tv that has a keyboard remote and it also is small, but usable for quick looks using thumbs. I would not want to type a message like this with ether of these remotes. I am not having much luck looking. I even found an app for my IPad for Smart tv but after installing it I found that the qwerty part was not in this app. If Samsung offered a full size keyboard that was wifi, wireless, or anything without a cable for the greatest plasma tv I have ever seen today's, and we have 6 plasma tv's in our family and I wish they were all the new Samsung Smart tv, but I go on.... I would pay up to $175 for a great and easy keyboard so I could feel free to use the Internet side of this tv as a serious application . I might never need to use my computer again if I found the wifi part as wonderful to use as I o the tv side of things. Keep up the great work, we are a Samsung believer and enjoy your other products. The newest is our wifi refrigerator, it really is nice to have it with the apps we have installed.

What is stopping you when you have customers asking for this capability? At least provide capability that allows users to activate a thrd party keyboard if you do not intend to offer one yourselves... Great marketing and successful companies respond to customer demands!!!!

I am aware of the Samsung RMC30D1P2 and RMC30C1. What important is that Samsung introduces a wireless remote keyboard and mouse to facilitate for Smart TV functionality. Keyboard on its own does not resolve user needs thus it is a short term solution.

If you read this blog you will see that a lot of comments have been made in this regard and I urge Samsung to do something positive to move forward. I read that Logitek wireless keyboard and mouse worked on Smart TVs but the firmware in the TVs still displays the built in virtual keyboard. Smart TVs must recognise an external keyboard and mouse and disable the internal virtual keyboard in a seamless operation.

I was hoping you guys could post at this thread with any comments or suggestion about the 2011 Samsung SmarTV browser, keyboard and the like. Thanks!

The Remote for web browsing / youtube, etc is just really
tedious and annoying! I can't believe we spent close to $2900 for the TV
and it's features are completely useless.

I have the Samsung D7000 model TV, got the sound bar, Blu Ray, etc. What
a waste of money! It would have been perfectely alright buying a big
screen TV without the "Smart TV" feature.

Samsung definitely needs to come up with wireless keyboard/mouse! It's a necessity
with this TV; otherwise, it's useless.

I was also very disappointed when I found out, that the SmartTV feature is only accessible via the remote and not with any keyboard.

So i decided to built my own. It is based on infrared, so don't expect to type like on a computer keyboard, but it is miles better than fizzling with the remote...
If you have an old keyboard (who doesn't?) the material cost should be below 50$.

I use it frequently. Still SmartTV will not replace internet access via computer, but for a quick google search, looking at youtube videos or searching for addresses in Google maps a very useful alternative...

If you make a connection between the Galaxy Tab & my Samsung SmartTV UE32D6500 that I recently bought I will buy a Tab instead of an IPad2 + AppleTV.

Why? Because I love my TV and don't want to get lost in the Flash-less proprietary software hell Apple is building. Help me to help you. Thanks upfront.

what about the : QWERTY Remote RMC-QTD1 from Samsung?

Samsung has launched their remote app for iphone and android based phones. this can be used to input text for you web searches, social sites etc etc... along with that it also contains the full remote control as well.. so we dont need to spend anything on remotes if we have a smart phones.

i hope it will help some people out there as it helped me as well. i just bought my new 3d led tv UA55D7000 recently...
