Samsung forum: No sound from Samsung TV Apps (Netflix, YouTube, etc)

Hi, I just bought a Samsung UN55D8000 and everything seems to be working fine until i tried streaming movies using Netflix. I have a harman kardon sb16 and all apps from samsung including Pandora, Blockbuster have sound thru my harman kardon but NOT netflix. Could you please help me in solving this problem? I called Netflix and they could not help me.

Tried all prior ideas and i did call samsung but they said that they could not help me. Prior to HK i have a Polka and thought that this was the problem so i bought HK which turns out to be the same- no sound when using Netflix. My older tv which is UN55D7000 is working fine with Netflix. Same connections just changed the TV.

I recently installed a Samsung pn51d6500 for a client, very simple hookup, HDcable HDMI out to HDMI1 in on tv, Tv optical audio out to sherwood stereo receiver, everything worked great except for the netflix, no sound thru stereo system. Youtube audio was fine so that told me all connections and input settings were o.k. I called Samsung they said they are working on it. I came to this forum and tried every suggestion that applied, and still no audio. Finally i restarted Netflix, then went to the TV audio menu, spdif settings, dolby digital was checked, I selected PCM and boom, we got sound! I have found this same problem in many samsung bluray players, they also have an audio settings menu and setting them to PCM may also fix those issues, but I have not tried it as of yet. If possible use the analog audio out (less desirable but at least you get sound), Analog audio output was not available on the PN51D6500 so it was digital or no sale.

The idea is to push audio the other direction. Works sometimes but the more seasoned installer will carry an optical cable to when it doesn't. A few consumers will balk and a few more might call this a product defect when ARC fails. Since we are still integrating various maker's gear the hope is just that.

Look in the various documents and you always see more than one way to hook up and configure. It's you clue that nothing is certain yet. Think over how to get around these issues and don't forget that optical connection.

I have a 55es7500 and a pioneer receiver. I was expereincing the same problems. Everything works fine until i would try to use an app and then no sound. After a little more reading online and studying I found that as long as you have ARC you should be able to do it with just one HDMI cable plugged into HDMI 2 on your tv. On your receiver ARC control needs to be on but also in you tv menu go to system and then Anynet+. Make sure this is turned On and receiver is On. Not sure why this helps but it helped me. also had to program my logitech remote to use input TV when using apps I just made a new activity called smart hub and only had receiver and tv on for this activity. Hope this helps. Worked for me and I have a pretty inexpensive receiver.
