Bluray BD-C6500 wireless

Bought this model and had trouble hooking it up to our old Netgear MR814v2 router. It appeared that it did not support WEP encryption (it worked when I took down all security on the router). Decided it was time to upgrade router (was a slow 802.11b!) to a Netgear Rangemax dual band (WNDR3700). I tried to find specs on the bluray's wireless capability but neither user manual nor online searches (Samsung and elsewhere) turned up anything. Bluray could not find the 5 ghz on the dual band (able to connect to 2.4 ghz) and I found an obscure forum that said that this bluray model does not support 5 ghz but that a wi-fi ready model with a wireless dongle would. Is this correct? Seems absurd for a recently released wifi-ready device to not support 5 ghz, and for me to have to buy a wi-fi ready device and a dongle to get the connection I want. Firmware was updated on both devices. I've tried having the router find the device (it does for the 2.4 ghz connection) and manually entering the IP address, gateway, etc. I've tried no encryption, with WEP encryption, WPA encyption (bluray warns me not to use TKIP so I have not) - nothing works. Can you please shed some light on what wi-fi network settings thhis will take? THANKS!
