Samsung BD8200

First I'd like to say I think this is a great forum. It it is a great place to get what I believe is an honest opinion of consumer products. I really like the idea of the BD8200, however, after reading the reviews I am hesitant to purchase. I would like the sound quality of the a simulated movie theater sound, but like the idea of one bar due to space restraints. Most of these reviews seem to be from 2008 or 2009 have the newer models 2010 been improved in any way?
I would take your advise to purchase the HTC6500, but eight speakers it a little too much for my very small living area. Thank you for your help.

There are a lot of differences between the HT-C6500 and the HT-BD8200. There's a lot to say for space saving, and then there's a lot to say for a theater-like experience.

Many of the concerns I've seen are related to the input signal, and why it's not adjustable (in most cases, it's displaying the signal coming in - PCM, or Dolby, so it wouldn't be adjustable as it's just identifying the signal), but what concerns do you have?

Also something to consider would be a 5.1 system, which is significantly less than 8, but would still deliver a lot of audio that you may not get from a 2.1 system.

Thank you for your reply. My concerns about the BD8200 were reviews as to the sound and the playback on the blu ray DVD player. I have seen some (unfortunately) negative reviews about the sound and dvd, however, I have listen to the samsung sound bars in the electronic stores and they sound very good and the rating on most samsung Blu ray players have been excellent. For some reason I do not understand if you put these two together why there would be anything negative about the sound from the sound bar or the playing of the Blu ray. I have a small living room and just looking for a simulated movie theater sound and a good DVD reproduction for my new Samsung 42" HDTV. I like the idea of the streaming netflicks etc. I just don't want to spend alot of money to be disappointed if a simple sound bar and a BD6500 blu ray will do the trick.
