Can I stream what's on my PC to my TV?

by gec5741 - 7/7/10 12:58 PM

I have a samsung un55b8000 and want to know how or the best way to use my TV with a computer. Now I have a my TV hard wired into my network and do stream movies from my 2008 server to my TV and have been doing that for a while. I also have a windows 7 desktop and a windows 7 laptop currently. I see those commercials with the guy playing the video game shooting zombies and in that commercial they make it seem so easy to stream what you see on your computer to your tv but Iv'e yet to figure out how to do that! Is there a way eitehr using my desktop and my netork or my laptop and my network without the use of cables to stream what I see on my compute screen right to my TV???

If not then that commercial is sure misleading. At any rate if that is not possible how do I go about hooking up my tv to my laptop as a momitor with sound. The laptop does not have hdmi so I'm guessing I'd have to use like a dvi to hdmi splitter for video and a seperate sound cable that goes sterio to rca? But what i'd really like to do is just stream from my comptuer right to my tv like it seems like there doing in that darn commercial!

Thanks in advance for any input or clearification you can give me!
