Samsung forum: Facebook App does not work on Samsung TV

Yes, I've logged into my account on the TV;
We're located in CA;
Yes, all firmware updates have been applied;
So I've removed the FaceBook app from the Smart TV apps and will not add it back... it is far easier to just use the browser and not deal with this frustration.
Hopefully you folks can fix it for the other multitudes who are experiencing the frustration.

I posted a complaint about the Facebook App on my Samsung UN55D8000 3 months ago about my Samsung SmartHub not recognizing my Facebook user ID or password. What I did to finally fix it was to add a dash ( - ) to my Facebook password in my Facebook account settings (on the website). That fixed the issue and now Facebook works fine!!

During the Samsung Facebook registration process, I enter my primary Facebook email id (i have 3), then I enter my Facebook password (which works fine on my PC), then the Samsung TV says Facebook doesn't recognize my account. When Samsung asks for my Facebook "service id", is that the email that I use on my PC? Or, how do I find my Facebook "service id"... (I tried a link that someone posted earlier to a 'whatsmyid" Facebook app, but that didn't work for me - blank page).

This didn't help either. After install, when i click "register account" I get "invalid service account or password entered". Of course I know my password, but I'm unsure what it means by service account? I've tried all the emails accociated with my Facebook, and even tried my custom URL id (my last name like http://www.facebook.com/lastname). I'm a very techncal person, and totally stumped by this.

I have been following this post for quite a while as Facebook, Twitter, Picasa, YouTube, Google Calendar, BBC News and Vudu all do not work on my crppy Samsung UN55C6500.

Facebook and all the social networking apps have the same similar error message regarding "service site" or "must create account" -- even though all accounts have been created.

Did some idiot from Samsung actually provide any information regarding this "sign into some Samsung server first"?

Okay maybe I'm a glutton for punishment, but in addition to my Samsung 46" LED TV, I just got the Samsung BlueRay player (also with WiFi and SmartHub) so I could limit the number of remotes on my coffee table. I logon successfully to my Samsung account (both TV and BlueRay). Samsung's Social TV works with Twitter, but not with Facebook. I also tried Facebook directly from the SmartHub app menu (after already being logged on to the Samsung TV account). I tried del/re-install the Facebook app. Any thing I try with Facebook on Samsung fails after my logon attempts, which is crazy because I have Facebook running fine on about 6 other devices, and I'm probably crazy for wanting it to work on my TV too. Anyhow... I even had a Geek Squad guy over here, and he was stumped too. So I've tried all the same stuff on my Samsung BlueRay player too - same errors... Example, when I try to use the SmartHub to register my Facebook service account it says "account information not found".... Arrg, if I figure this out I swear I'll use this forum to shout it out to the world. In the meantime, I'm cursing the Samsung developers who created this aweful Facebook app that has burned so much of time.

I've gotten my Pandora, Facebook and Google Talk apps to register but I can't get Twitter to register. I have a UN55D7000. I don't understand what is going on. This is extremely frustrating!

If you get the Facebook "user ID" account not found and your password or user ID contains a capital letters or requires the use of the SHIFT key for symbols...here's the fix. All you need to do is go to the settings screen and register Facebook (link it to your SmartHub ID, user name should appear logged in at the lower left side of the screen), enter your facebook user ID and password using the on screen keyboard with your remote (not the USB or external keyboard). For some reason using an external USB keyboard and pressing the SHIFT key adds an extra character when pressed, thus causing it not to register properly.

Also if you have issues getting Netflix app to work...change the time setting to manual from Auto, set the correct time and time zone for your area, turn the tv off and then back on and then it should connect to Netflix and ask if your a Netflix member or provide a code if you have an older set. If I had known this earlier it would have saved me 5 hours of troubleshooting.

Please assist me with the above referenced issue. The Samsung TV Model # is UN46EH6070F with package bundle Samsung BluRay Model # BD-E5900. Thank you in advance!

Yesterday the Blu Ray firmware was updated twice and once the day before. Please advise how to discover if it is completely up to date (ie... where do I find firmware version)? Also, how does she "tag" friends in her posts and photos, etc. ?
