Samsung forum: tv goes black for a second

I also have a UN55C7000 that blacks out periodically. No audio, no video. And then everything is fine after a couple of seconds. I wish Samsung would take this seriously. I keep hearing that it must be the cable company, but I've read of instances of it happening with different companies, different brands of cable boxes, and even dish subscribers. I've seen it once on my blu-ray player.

I won't use component cables to solve the problem. This is an HD set, and it should be able to process signals over HDMI.

I've been watching TV for the past couple of hours, and I've just counted my fourth black out. C'mon, Samsung! Issue a fix.

Dgoodrum posted his cable box model number. Is yours the same? Could you post your model here?

I can look into it, but likely it's an issue with the HDCP - the copy protection feature where the box may not be recognizing that the television is an approved device. When that happens, the picture disappears, but the audio continues. If the audio is going out, it may be an issue with the cable or the connection between the two devices.

In many cases, resetting the cable box, or calling them up to have them refresh or update it (which can be done while you're in the phone) can actually fix the issue. So I'm led to believe it's more of a cable box issue in most instances.

Give that a try and see if that reduces the instance of the signal not passing.
