Horrible Static Noise

by chain78 - 4/24/10 3:54 PM

I have a Samsung PN42B450 42-Inch 720p Plasma HDTV, bought it a couple months ago.

A couple days ago it started making a popping noise, which progressed to very loud static. If you have ever watched a newscast where the newscaster is in a hurricane, and you hear the wind hitting the microphone.. That is exactly what it sounds like- even with the sound turned all the way down to zero as well as muted.

I have unplugged everything in the room the tv is in, I even plugged the tv into a different elec. outlet. I unplugged everything from the tv.. still it only gets worse.

I was having issues with my digital phones as well, so I removed them all from the room the tv is in and plugged them in elsewhere. The issue with the phones is gone.. But the tv problem continues.

It is so bad that it is impossible to use the television. The noise is so loud it can be heard outside of my house as if the volume were set at full blast.

I cannot find any one else with this issue, and calling customer service was of no help. She was stumped as well and said well someone will contact you in 2-3 business days to set up a service call...
