Plasma TV (HPR4252) with Vertical Back Line

Today my Samsung 42" plasma (HPR4252X/AA) suddenly had a single thick vertical black line on the left side of the screen. It's not the edge of the screen, but about halfway between the left edge and center. From my research, it sounds to me like this is an issue with one of the two buffer boards. If so, I'm not sure which one (upper or lower) is at fault. Is there a simple solder repair I could try or is my only solution a new board?

Black Vertical Bar

First, Samsung support number is worthless and Samsung does NOT stand behind their product but they are willing to sell support...

I have the same problem and the Buffer board does not seem to be the problem as I swapped it with the same result. I am going to try some other things and I will update you if I am able to fix it but it was not the LJ41-02332A LOGIC BUFFER (F).

Let me know if you found out any info on your problem.

hi did you find the solution to this i have just come across same problem i have narrowed it down to the green strips at bottom of tv have no idea what they are called or how to fix them. any help would be taken greatfully. thank you.

Vertical Black line problem - Found!!!

Well I took in the HP-R4252 with the same problem listed above. I took the tv apart and found the problem to this TV (actually I don't believe it was the TV's fault for burning up the IC chip). What I found was the at the bottom of the TV there are connectors that connect the physical screen to the circuit board. There are exactly 8 per side, 16 in total across the bottom. Each one of these will show 2 inches of vertical screen on the display. On the ribbon connection there are what it looks to be is an IC chip integrated within it. These IC chips are protected with a heat sink bar and they are coated with thermal grease. Whomever put this TV together didnt get the compound on the IC so it shorted out causing the infamous black bar. Now in order to fix the problem, it would appear that you would have to replace the whole screen. I havent stripped this tv down completely but I dont see how any one can replace this chip.

Good to see you are diving into electronics repair but how can you be sure this is all that's wrong? That is, it sounds like you have not replaced the chip or cable yet have declared it to the be the fault. Also, if this was the fault (lack of compound) it seems odd it would take over a year for the failure to occur.
