My Story

I bought a Samsung PN50B650 50-Inch 1080p Plasma HDTV back in Feb. '10.
The first horizontal line appeared in March of 2012. I googled the "symptoms" and found this thread.
With only the standard manufacturer's warranty, and out of date by 13 months, I figured I was screwed and never contacted Samsung. It was a few months later in June when the second line appeared. I had this thread bookmarked and read through some of the posts, many who had the same progression of multiple lines showing up over time.
I was starting to get angry, truth be told. But by June I had some medical issues with my daughter, and this problem took an abrupt backseat.
By July, a third line reared its ugly head. My wife and I discussed how upsetting it was to spend $1200 on a TV, an investment to last 5-10 years, and here we were with a TV that was getting harder by the day to watch, and an issue that started when the TV was only 2 years old.
Last week, a 4th line appeared. We've had it with this TV, honestly. To spend this much on a TV and feel there is little you can do, it's frustrating. I even recommended Samsung to my mother-in-law last year, and she eventually went out and bought a Samsung LCD.
Now it has gotten so distracting that I can't watch a movie without thinking about it, and I sit there, waiting for the next line. From what I've read on here, the cost of fixing the defect is almost the cost of the entire TV. How much longer until I can't even watch this thing?
I've always been a very loyal customer. When I find a brand that lives up to my expectations, I generally promote and stick with that brand. Even if my perception of that brand is a microcosm of reality (like not all Samsung TV's go bad, I assume), it IS my reality, one where I have to deal with the fact that my Samsung product is defective and inferior.
Is there any way Samsung can restore my faith in them? I would be willing to pay for the labor if Samsung would send a repair shop the part, but I'm fearful I'm too far away from the original purchase, even though I FEEL like I am owed the same consideration as many others on here have received from Samsung.
I'm willing to show pictures to Samsung and do whatever else I've got to do to get this resolved. Even though I waited longer than I should have, I have little doubt that Samsung is fully aware of this issue and that as many as 4 lines can take months to appear, and my TV was only 25 months old when this began.
Anyone have any advice for me? What steps should I take first? Any guidance or info to help me get started? Emails, phone #'s, etc. I know some of the info is in this thread, but it seems scattered, and any clarity on the matter would be greatly appreciated.
I'm so dissatisfied as a Samsung customer right now, and want to give them a chance, hoping that they will fix the defect. Otherwise, my only recourse is to personally boycott Samsung on principal alone, spread the word, something I don't want to do because Samsung does make good products. But again, this has been MY Samsung story so far, MY experience.......so I hope there is still a chance for a happy ending.
