Samsung Series 5 LCD green tint when using HDMI

Hi,

I am having problems with my Samsung LE37B530P7W (Series 5) when using the HDMI connection with my Home Cinema, which is a Samsung HT-TZ325R. The colors have a green tint, specially in the faces and in dark images. The same doesn't happen if I use another input, for the same source (i.e. connecting my Home Cinema using AV instead of HDMI).

For the other inputs (AV, PC) I don't have this problem. My Wii is working pretty fine connected with the AV connection. I haven't tried component yet (don't have the cable), so I don't know if the problem will happen there also.

I have already tried another TV, and it worked fine, so the problem is for sure on the TV.

Does anyone has an idea of what might be happening?

Does adjusting the white balance, or resetting the picture settings change the tint problem?

Many thanks for your reply.

I've tried adjusting white balance and reseting the picture settings, but at most I can get a better image (always a bit greenish), not as good as if I use a different connection instead of HDMI.

One thing I've noticed, adjusting the white balance, is that changing the RED element doesn't make any difference. It is pretty much like the red is dead. The same doesn't happen with the other colours (green and blue).

I am wondering if maybe there is something broke on the TV so the red signal is not being processed?

I have the excact same problem, only in my case it is a red tint.
In my case it seems that there is no response when adjusting the tint settings, at least not that i can notice. Im thinking something is wacked with the software that adjusts tint. Does adjusting tint give any result on your TV?

Is there any way to "hard-reset" the software in the TV? (I have used reset picture settings numerous times without any luck)

Anyways, good luck, I'll post it if I find any solution to my problems as I suspect we have the same issues.

In my case, adjusting the tint makes a difference, but of course not enough to fix the problem.

I am not aware of hard-reset functionality on the TV. The only option I know is the one you've tried, reseting picture settings.

Good luck for you also. I will call Samsumg technical service probably tomorrow to see if they can provide me an answer on that. If I get a resolution I will post here as well.

You might be right

Im not sure how visible the changes are to be when using the tint adjustment, and after giving it another shot I think you are right that it makes a small difference.

It is possible to reset the TV entirely, but in my case it didn't solve the problem. To do this, press and hold the [exit] button for about 15 seconds, and follow the instructions.

One thing i have not tried is to update the firmware, but my version is only like 3 weeks old so I'm guessing it won't do me any good either.

I will also talk to support tomorrow, but Im guessing I'll need to send it back for service or replacement since the full reset didn't work. I'll keep you posted on the response I get!

I don't have one to test at the moment, but with the television powered ON, if you hold down the EXIT button on the remote for 12 seconds, you may be prompted to do a factory reset. If you get an option, press YES. Keep in mind that all of your settings will be adjusted back to factory settings, and you'll have to run through the setup.

Thanx for the tip, but asstated in my former post, I already tried that without any luck. But it might be helpful for the starter of this thread.

I returned my TV as DOA a few days ago, but still have not recieved any information from the supplier on what was wrong. I will post info here as soon as I get it...

TV replaced

Hiya.

I just thought I'd report back on my case.
I got a message today that my TV will be replaced at no cost.

In my case the TV was only one day old when the problem occured, so it was treated as a DOA-case (dead on arrival). This meant that I had the right to a new TV instead of service. It might be different in other countries I guess.
Anyways: This is a warranty issue, and can not be fixed by the user. My advice to those experiencing similar problems is to return the TV ASAP.
