Wireless Dongle Connectivity

Equipment:
LN52B750
BD-1600
WIS09ABGN
Netopia Wireless Router

First, I have not done any firmware updates in any of the equipment. I used the dongle in the TV and it connected to the internet without trouble. Moved the dongle to the 1600 and have tried connecting without success. The 1600 recognizes the network exists but fails to connect, regardless of the setting on the 1600 or on the router. I have tried all options of encryption for connecting (WEP, WPA, WPA2 and open). When trying WPA or WPA2 modes, the 1600 wouldn't even attempt to connect versus WEP and open where it would attempt and fail. I have also used auto IP and have manually enetered the IP, DNS, Gateway, etc.

Will a firmware upgrade help here or are there other problems I need to fix?

Also, spent about an hour on the phone with the ISP tech without success.

Well I have answered that question. I have updated the firmware in both the TV (via wireless dongle) and the blu-ray (via USB) with the most current versions. I still can not get the dongle to connect through the blu-ray. I guess I will probably return the dongle since it really doesn't do much good just on the TV. I am a Netflix member and was really looking forward to streaming that.

You might try a few things:

1. Remove any spaces or non alpha/numeric characters from the SSID
2. Set your router to channel 2 or 6.
3. WEP encryption with 64-bits (rather than 128)

I tried each of your suggestions. The default channel was 6, changed to 2 and tried again. Tried all options for encryption including none and WEP. Also removed one space from the SSID, that was the only non alpha/numeric in the SSID.

I was able to get a connection by turning off the encryption on the router. It connected quickly and functioned properly. I went back to WPAPSK, as some had suggested, and it again would not connect. I don't really want to leave my network open to other users, anyone have any ideas how this should work? Also, I read in other threads that some are using a 10 digit number on the bottom of their routers for the security code. There are no 10 digit numbers on my Netopia router but I tried a 12 digit number with no success.

Any help is most appreciated.
