ON-Off Issues 42 Inch Plasma (reposted)

by jonah jones - 10/19/09 3:42 AM

for tsmithbonterra - removed personal information

It sounds like I have the same issue as many forum members. I was out of town last week, so missed the "50 member" cutoff. I am submitting my info anyway in hopes of an extension by Samsung.

- C|Net User Name; tsmithbonterra
- First and Last Name: Tom Smith
- Your email: xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
- Transaction number. 2010500386

- Phone Number where you can be easily reached: xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
- Model number: HPT4254x/xaa
- Serial number: B3373CEPA11987P
- Version number: SN05
- A description with as much detail as possible.

The TV will not turn on--instead the blue light at the bottom of the Round on/off button on the front flashes every 2 seconds, and at the same time, a clicking sound occurs, from the rear of the set--the clicking contains three sounds--like dit-dit(same intensity sound), dah (more intense sound). This three clicking sequence takes about 1 second start to finish, and reoccurs at about 3 second intervals.

At the rear of the set, a red light flashes (appears from behind the Digital Audio Out connection port)at the beginning of each clicking sequence.

This problem started on 10/14 a.m. (while I was out of town--I returned 10/17pm last night). Unplugging the set from power, waiting different perionds of time, and reapplying power doesnt help. I unplugged the set last night overnight, and 10 hours later (this morning) when I plugged the set back into power, the same clicking sound started right up.

Pressing the remote power button or the power button on the front of the set has no effect.

I hope this helps--pls contact me asap with a way to resolve this problem. I am thoroughly satisfied with the set, and want it returned to service as soon as possible.

Thank You, Tom Smith
