The service tech who looked at it will have a better idea since he's been able to look at it. Unfortunately, I can't offer a better diagnosis of what the issue might be.

I'm having the same problem. No luck so far finding a solution although the concensus seems to be that it is a power supply issue with the TV.

I called Samsung about the problem with taking too long to turn on and also the colored lines when it does come on. The tech I spoke with told me to unplug the TV and then hold the on/off button in for at least 15 seconds. I did this but it didn't change anything. I guess it's off to the repair shop. I won't be buying another Samsung. Sony or JVC will be my next choice. I've always had exception luck with any electronic equipment from either of them.

Radio Shack did not have the capacitors. I bought mine online from Big Daddy Enterprises for $.25/ea. 2-7 days shipping time. I could not find them from any local electronic suppliers in the Virginia Beach area.

I'll give these a try. Good move by bringing in the board. That pretty much confirms things for me.

PS Now it takes 1.5 minutes for my TV to turn on, about a minute longer than a couple of days ago. May not seem like much but it is an eternity for my two kids!

I used to like Samsung but this will be the last Samsung product for me. They should acknowledge that this is recall worthy and fix them for free.

Great work. My capcitors are on the way. Can't wait to get this done and stick it to Samsung. It's taking about 5 minutes for my TV to turn on now. Sometimes it turns on right away, there is sound but no picture. Funny how my 10 year old cheapy Sanyo is still working fine.

In fact, that's what's the design flaw here: they had insufficient working voltages. Designers of all but the lowest caliber know to use 3x the nominal V for margin.

Only issue is 35V caps can be a little larger than 10V capacitors so you've got to confirm they'll fit. I'm doing mine now w/35V.

I was having the same problem. My LNT4061F was taking about 10-15 minutes to turn on and when it finally did, there would be a few lines and dots on the screen. Usually I could turn it off and back on and they would disappear, but the last time I tried it just kept clicking on and off and refused to come back on at all. I had already read this thread so I found it again, called my local Radio Shack and they had the capacitors (Part #272-1032) in stock so I bought 5 (for Murphy's Law and the next time knock on wood) and a soldering iron.

Once I opened it, it was obvious two were gone, so I replaced those two; I didn't want to do all 4, but now that I know it works I feel better about opening it up if and when the others blow. I hit the power switch before I put it back together and it turned on without clicking. Total cost: $15.39 but I bought the soldering iron and 3 extra capacitors. Thanks for the thread. You saved me lots of time and money!
One side note. The guy at Radio Shack asked what I was working on since I had called ahead and driven there in about 3 inches of snow so I told him I was fixing my LCD TV and he said, "Let me guess, Samsung?"

Called Samsung customer support, the number that was provided here in the second post. The very friendly lady from the USA took all my information and said they knew about the problem and would be sending a tech out to fix it free of charge.Sweet!

I called and they denied there was a problem (they new about) but also said it didn't matter since the set was out of warranty.
They called back to ask me if I was happy with their customer support. Can you believe that. She asked me on a 1-5 scale, 1 being I loved the help ,and you guess what a 5 was. I told her 10. She thanked me for the input.
Anyway, I got 4-35V capacitors from Radio Shack, had a friend do the switch out and the whole thing cost me $45.00 and 30 minutes of down time. Set works as it should, so far.
PS: was your set still under warranty?

Tech installed 4 16v capacitors, there was one that had yet to start leaking, but he still fixed that one. Took him exactly 12 min from start to finish...amazingly easy.

Samsung is the largest electronic manufacture in the world. I doubt they would deny reasonable claims. Either people here have trouble talking to and dealing with customer service, or they are lying about their "denied" experiences.

The TV model in this thread is the model of mine. I bought it about 3.5 years ago, so very far out of warranty. (one year)

How did you get the service. I called this morning about the problem and was told my tv did not have the capacitor and I could not have the problem. After reading all of the comments and talking to the lady at the service contact number, I am sure nobody has been lying. Please tell me how you were able to get them to service your tv.

I'm having the exact same problem everyone here is having, was surprised how many different people in different forums are having the same issue. Emailed Samsung with a description, root cause, etc we'll see what they come back with.

Lucky for me, I run a circuit board manufacturing facility with a room full of equipment and a very talented lady named Mooney to facilitate the repair!
