Loud Chirping sound coming from Samsung PN42B450 plasma TV

We purchased the Samsung Plasma TV, the first week in Sept. from Best Buy and had the Geek squad sit it up and program it. It worked fine and had a great picture. However, during the middle of the night, while turned off; the TV started chirping very loudly. We unplugged it and the noise continued. During the day, it occurs after the TV has been on for about 2 hours. Shutting it off does not stop the deafening noise--even unplugging it does not stop the noise. We had the Geek squad come back out but the guy could not hear the noise at that time and said he thought it was because of the cable box. Cable TV came out an took the cable box off and the TV still made the noise at 3 am with nothing turned on. What kind of warrenty is on the TV--we cannot tolerate being awakened at night and have to leave our home during the day when this occurs due to ear pain.

I'm trying to understand, and I take this issue seriously.

What I'm trying to figure out is how it's causing a noise when the unit is unplugged. Is the sound coming from the actual speakers in the television set, or is it coming from behind the set?

Yes, the sound is coming from the speaker which is on the top of the TV.

I've not heard of this symptom, so I was attempting to make sure it was the television itself. But to answer your question directly, new televisions have one year parts and labor, and you can have it serviced by calling 800-SAMSUNG. I do apologize for the inconvenience.

I don't think you read my message, but yes it is defineately coming from the TV speakers, not behind the TV and it occurred last night at 12:35 a.m. and lasted over 40 minutes. The Tv was not on since 10 pm.

Leave everything unplugged for a couple of hours, I mean everything that is connected to TV.

Sometimes power supplies carry a residual charge, even unplugged for something to happen, in some cases a long time. If you've disconnected everything and still hear the sound several hours later, then

1) The sound is comming from somewhere besides your TV but your getting a "false echo" as if it is comming from TV.

2) Your TV is haunted.

In the latter case, which is unlikely, but, if true than your TV should fetch quite a price at say sotherby's auction house in London.

Occam's Razor basically says that all things remaining equal, if no evidence is presented contrary than a conclusion drawn bast on available facts tends to be the simplest.

This tends to support conclusion 1

Sir Conan Doyle stated that: "When you have eliminated the impossible, whatever remains, however improbable, must be the truth."

This tends to support conclusion 2
