LCD TV LA37B530 How to update firmware

If you've done the steps below, insert the drive while the TV is on.

After you format your thumbdrive:

1. Download the firmware
2. Unzip it.
3. Launch the program on the desktop - it will prompt you, asking where you want to install the program. Choose the drive that the thumbdrive is in.
4. Install it
5. You should be able to plug it in your TV at this point.

I do exactly as your step above but still no luck.
My Samsung support website(vn) doesn't contant firmware model for LA37B530 so I have to find same model firmware in other country website.

My model doesn't have normal USB , it mark as "service" and doesn't has menu option to update firmware via USB like shows in their guide.I wonder If is the problem

HOW TO DO FIRMWARE UPDATE ON 52" tv

I have searched but cannot find how to, step by step, do firmware update. I have downloaded firmware to memory stick, plugged it in to my 52A650 tv but tv cannot find it. I tried again, unzipping firmware to the memory stick with same result. I then went into menu...SW update again (is this the correct locaation?) to no avail. Maybe if I hooked uup my laptop directly to the TV (never done this before either so step by step would be appreciated).
I'm standing by for instructions so I can get out of here and do my shopping but mostly I have spent an emormous amount of time on this nonsense!

If it's not a U.S. firmware, I don't know what their instructions are. The best I can suggest is to call the Samsung Customer Service center in your region. Those instructions work for the U.S. models.

Same Problem

hello my friend Nash here. I have the exact same porblem My LCD HD tv Model is LA37B530P7RXZN and I bought it from UAE (United Arab Emirates). I have the answer to your problem. Just press the "Power" button on your remote control to send the tv in standby mode. When in Standby mode press Info ----> Menu -----> Mute ----> Power. Your tv will power on with the Secret Service menu displayed on the screen with the help of navigation keys on the remote control select "Control" and then select "SubOption" here you will get a lot of options. Just look at the Bottom Right of the screen u will see an option saying "Upgrade from USB" which will most probably be turned off. Turn it ON by pressing the right navigation key on the remote and turn off your tv and then try to insert the usb in the service port with the firmware folder copied on it and start your TV.

By the way my friend from where did you downloaded the firmware UAE official samsung site doesn't contain the firmware Please tell me the site from where you downloaded the firmware.

I'm going to do an experiment on my TV. As you know that our Tv has only a "Service USB" port and i'm downgrading my firmware to see if I can play movies form this "Service USB" Port. But I don't know how to backup the current firmware or to find the firmware for my Tv if anything goes wrong. Help me bro and do tell me if u don't understand the instructions I also have these instructions in pictures i'll upload them if u need. Reply my soon.

Well, I've tried that but It's not working and this lead me to a conclusion that there's no newer firmware for this Series yet.

Hello everyone Nash here. I've successfully enabled my "Service USB" port on Samsung LA37B530 to watch Jpeg pictures and Playing mp3 music files.

I've posted my Service menu pictures and as well as a video. If you haven't already enabled it enable it now atleast for jpeg and mp3.

and have you found any way of enabling movie support on our model?.

Sorry for the long post but my friend we have to help each other.

I've tried to downgrade the firmware to TCHL5DEUC v 2003 that has the "Wiselink usb support".

but my lcd is not recognizing the firmware. I also have downloaded the firmwares from samsung australia and samsung hongkong but same position.

Thanks for reading my long post and Please help me and i'll help you in any way I can because i'm so desperate in enabling movie support on my tv.

As per my researching it is all the matter of Software not the hardware. With right software we can have this opiton.

najamkhan123,

While we're waiting, are you going to help people if they screw up their televisions by entering the service menu and doing the wrong thing, or is it clear to everyone involved that doing what you're suggesting is clearly voiding the warranty?

Also, I noticed in the other thread about a download that was posted. Is that firmware editing software? I saw the forum moderators asked that question to the posters, and they were waiting for a response. I was rather curious myself.

yes my friend accessing the service menu will void your warranty. But I also told that if your are interested in enabling this option " Do this at your own responsibility ".

Second I also warned every body that after entering into the Service menu , take pictures of every screen and every option so that if every thing goes wrong you can have those pictures with you to reset the TV.

I myself changed a setting laeled as "Unbalance" it was by default "off" but I chanced it to "ON" and then I restart the TV, there was no display at all just the starting sound and then the TV screen just turned light greyish.

but luckily I had the pictures with me. What I did was I entered the service menu by pressing the Info---> menu---> mute---> power.

My Tv started but there was no display at all just the light greyish screen, but I was in the service menu although it was not showing on the screen.

with the help of the pictures I changed back the setting which caused this problem, and guess what, when I restarted the TV my display was back.

And the you are referring to is for patching the samsung firmware. the project name is SammyGo.

But they are working on the firmwares for models starting from B550.

I'm trying my best to get the people at SammyGo to work for our firmware and enable the movie playback for us.

But let me ask you, have you enabled the " Media Play USB " option on your TV. or you just had it by default. mine was hidden by samsung and I enabled it by the procedure I posted on the AVforums.com thread.

I just bought a 40B550 a week ago and wanted to update the firmware.

Thing is, how can I tell what firmware I already have on my tv? I would hate to install an older one. Any help would be appreciated!

Amuseddaysleeper,

It will prompt you before updating, asking if you want to install XXXX.X version (dated XX/XX/XXXX) over current XXXX.X version (dated the same way) before it proceeds to update. Always go with the newer firmware.

Thanks for the info!

Also I know entering the service menu is my own risk, but I can't seem to access it! I bought my B550 up here in Canada a few weeks ago, and every time I have the TV off, and do info, menu, mute, then turn it back on nothing happens. I've tried 20 times and still no luck accessing the service menu. It's really frustrating. Also, when you press a button I know the red light on the TV is supposed to flicker, but it seems like when I hit the info key first, it will only flicker the second time I press it no matter what. It doesn't flicker at all the first time, but if I press it again THEN it flickers.

Any help/advice would be appreciated!
