Problem PN50A550S signal is 1080i not 1080P

I have a PN50A550S. When I hit the info button it says that the signal is 1920x1080i. Shouldn't it show up as 1080p? The only piece currently connected to the tv is a Motorola DVR from Comcast via HDMI. What is the problem. Thanks

The INFO button is telling you what the incoming resolution and Hz is. If the panel is a 1080p/120Hz panel, and the incoming signal is 720p/60Hz, it should be understood that the television will upconvert that incoming signal (shown in the INFO bar) to 1080p/120Hz.

So the 1080i/60Hz on the info panel is the signal coming in and the tv is upconverting the signal to 1080p?

Yes, precisely. And if the incoming signal was 720, it would say 720p/60Hz, but the television will upconvert it to 1080p via internal processing.

Info reporting 1080i @60hz

Greetings, I have just purchased the Samsung LN46B750U1F 240hz from Bestbuy and am getting a beautiful picture. But when I click on the info button, it tells me that it is at 1080i @60hz. I would it have reported 1080p @240hz.

Is this a setting that needs to be adjusted on the tv? or on the Comcast motorola DVR (HDMI connection)?
