What worked for me.

I guess my version of windows 7 doesn't have the features you have suggested...in fact, there's no 'My Computer' in the system and the 'simple file sharing' box also doesn't exist. Why it's like that is beyond me, but I'm just rolling with the punches. Here is the work around that I have figured out though. Again, this is a combination of things that I've sorted out from around the web, and I hope this can help those who haven't yet been able to stream videos to their 3600 from their windows 7 computers. My computer requires me to use a workgroup in order to share anything. Once you've setup your workgroup, you must turn off password protected sharing in the homegroup section in order for your 3600 to access the shared folder you've selected(to access homegroup settings, open any folder and you'll see 'homegroups' on the left hand side. Click on homegroups, and then select 'view homegroup settings'. Next select 'Change Advanced Sharing Options', and you'll then see the selection for Password Protected Sharing.) Next select the folder you want to share and name it something easy...aka 'shared'. Right click the folder and select 'share with'. Next select Homegroup Read/Write. From your 3600, select Network Search and choose the manual option. Enter your IP address, and then the name of the folder your sharing. Now under USER enter your workgroup name, and under password enter your workgroup password. PRESTO! I hope that works for you. It also has been remembering my information on the 3600 so I don't have to enter it over and over. I do have to select manual entry each time, but that is a minor inconvenience. I'm sure this is WAY more complicated than it needs to be, but it is the only option that has worked for me since I received my new HP with Windows 7.
