You have a more recent firmware than what is on the website.

I wouldn't downgrade if there's nothing wrong with your television, and if something was wrong, I'd recommend a service call. If you do downgrade, there's no way to revert back up, so I suppose a lot of it depends on how much you have faith on what people might post.

There will always be "perception" arguments on which firmware updates provide a better picture. The fact is that regardless of the firmware's default settings, all of the units can be calibrated within specifications, and therefore the picture quality doesn't suffer.

It could be, but I can't confirm or deny that.

Again, it falls back on perception. It's likely that you received an updated board, and the firmware co-incides with the updates on the board. I can't speak to processing, internals, service menus, or firmware update revisions. Even if what someone posts as "a known fact" is glaringly incorrect.

I've been around long enough to see formal complaints and calls for boycotts for issues that don't exist based soley on internet speculation that two or three people decided were the basis for "facts". There's no way I'm going to get in the middle of any of that. I lose on both sides, and noboby else is any happier as a result.

I do want to address your concerns, and that is what I can help with.

If this is an issue that requires resolve, I encourage you to contact service and note that the service call didn't result in your satisfaction. I want you to be happy with your product.

Please understand I was using examples of why I don't/can't discuss some of those issues. It wasn't towards you, but as a result of the responses from both sides that I'm not qualified to answer. I believe your perception that it's more grainy.

I'm not a part of the service department, so if I go out on a limb and suggest you downgrade, then I'm in the middle for suggesting it.

If I say one way or another, I'm responsible for justifying that answer, and at this point, I don't have enough information to do that.

So if a tech is returning, why not have 1006 on hand, and ask him if he can downgrade it for you to see if that issue disappears. If it does, then the problem is solved. If it doesn't fix the issue, then the technician can continue his repair since he's already there, and you can judge for yourself if the result that he goes through is acceptable.

Let me get some clarification from Service what they recommend regarding this firmware update.

You deserve a uniform response regardless if the answer comes from the website, the instructions, or the call center. Let me see if I can get that answer.
