Samsung forum: Netflix streaming on Samsung TV

i have the samsung #d and it did not work either. i did the software update and had the same issues. but it shows on the website when registered that it did have a firmare update for the TV.. the issue was i could not download there. i did find it under the global downloads at the samsung site and when i finally got it downloaded adn loaded on the TV by USB the netflix app started working. see if it works for ya'll.

Hi all... just got my brand new 55" C8000... an amazing product... I also bought the Samsung dongle to make it wireless... I clicked on Internet TV, and the Netflix widget showed up... I clicked on it, and had to first establish a network connection. After connection, I clicked on the Netflix app again, and it asked if I was a member (which I am), gave me a code, and I entered it on my computer.. My streaming queue popped up, and I watched a movie...

The next day, I tried it again, but somehow, I lost the internet connection, and had to reestablish wifi again... this happened about three or four times... I finally clicked on PIN on the remote (under Network), set up a PIN number, and finally, the connection has remained connected. I don't know if my situation was normal or not, but for those who've been losing their wifi connection, set up a PIN number...

Got home last night, went to the "Download Software" section of the Support page and it told me an update was available. After the update, the TV rebooted itseld, and BAM! I was watching a movie on Netflix.

My TV is a LN46C670 model from Best Buy.

Just a couple of questions here.

Where did you find the s/w update? I can add working Widgets day and night via Internet TV, including Netflix. All my other widgets automatically update themselves, but not Netflix, which is why I bought my Samsung TV. Why did you use an USB device?

Are you running an additional piece of equipment e.g. PSIII, XBox, Samsung Blu-Ray player, etc.?

According to additional references the Samsung LN0C650 - that being Samsung Chat, and others - they are still working on it. And Netflix does not work.

I'm sorry for the detailed response, but others like me are still looking for an answer.

Wonder if my plasma 860 qualifies for this firmware update i got it new in January, how do you get to the support section of the menu to find out?

I can confirm that the new firmware that was released last week fixed Netflix streaming issues on my UN55C6500 TV.

I had tried everything I could think of. My software level was the 1021 version from the store.

I created an account under SETTINGS, and then press A to login but Netflix or Pandora would not load. Would stay stuck at the "connecting" icon forever.

I had to power the set off/on. Then the system installed an update of some sort.

Now my Netflix and Pandora both work!!

I'd suggest that the only thing that Samsung understands is an impact to their holiday 2010 television sales. The biggest shopping day of the year is the day after Thanksgiving in the US. Therefore, I'd suggest that everyone in this group who is as frustrated by Samsung as I am do the following:

1) Educate those buying televisions for the holidays in 2010 about the situation via blogs, forums and web posts. Would you buy a Samsung TV if you knew?

2) Contact the media and see if someone can get the media to address the question and force Samsung to provide a real answer to the issue.

3) Picket/educate the holiday buyers concerning the issue at the stores. could negatively impacting Samsung TV sales during the holiday.

Obviously getting Netflix on B-Series televisions isn't a technical issue and can be solved. Samsung just needs to understand the impact of their decisions. We need to hold them accountable for any bad decisions.

According to this article, has anyone tried this? I'm not a technical person, so I don't have the knowledge and knowhow to make this work. Can the more technical people try this and please post results?

Hi All

1st - How to correctly download and install SamyGoExtensions

2nd - Edit the Samba init file for your system

-Download SamyGO All Extensions v0.03.1.zip Extract directly to a USB such that the SamyGO and src folders are directly in the root folder, along with the readme and other files In order for this method to work, there must be a windows user account with a password which has access to folders that you are sharing. Sharing is done by just right clicking the folder and enabling its sharing. This method will not work if you use a account without a password. What I did was just create a new account called "Samba" purely for this purpose and then edit the registry so it does not come up in the startup logon screen. This way my computer just loads straight into my default administrator account and still behaves like there is only one account. Open 04_04_samba.init in SamyGo/etc/init.d folder using notepad not windows notepad as it will not work Add the username and password the windows account that has access to the folders you are sharing. Technically nothing else need to be changed for this to work, but I just added my compters IP to make things faster when actually starting it up. Remember to use notepad Not reccomended by SamyGo admins, but people do do it to make startup faster - replace the SamyGOE.so file with the one from V0.02 as it reduces load up time. I have done it myself, but its not recomneded to mix and match files. Plug USB in to tv, go to the second option that appears, content management, go to usb, go to game, then SamyGoAllExtensions will be there. You can run this through this method from here, or copy to the tv and run it subsequently through the conent button. I hate that button becuase it is super slow, so i just have a small usb i leave in the tv at all times and run it from there off the usb. If running off the usb, you cannot remove it. When you run it, "pretty colours" according to the original poster will be seen. These are not tv generated, its the applications just displaying it. Then messages of two new devices being connected will be displayed; "UpNp server" and "Samba server". Exit all this and go to the source menu, Samba server, videos, select the ip adress that has shares, and there they are. Everything can be had with full control
Once this procedure is done, subsequently when you want to stream, just need to launch the "game" SamyGoAllExtensions, either directly from USB or from copied to TV Memory. Colours will appear, Devices will be found. You will select Samba server from source list and great fun will be had by all. Takes 30 seconds max. Just remember that if you are doing it straight after turning the tv on, give it a minute or so, so that it can detect the network, especially for wireless connections (as mine )

So there we have it. Samsung TVs doing what we always wanted them to do. Absolutely awesome. The guys over at SamyGo are absolutely brilliant and I definately think they need acknowledgement from Samsung. This is what samsung should have done in the first place.

I think my first reply applies. Ask the SamyGo site for a beginner's tutorial with a step by step in some checklist form.

I seemed to recall there's an option to install alternative firmware and it's the previous version. Does anyone else see this on their TV?

Visitor: Please let your supervision know that I am not happy with this. An App store is a big deal and to not have the foresight to offer it to the previous year is inexcusable. You may have just lost another customer for not backwards supporting a previous year model. Very stupid, I feel left in the dark on something that I surely would have enjoyed.

Samsung's app store was either not planned well or planned to entice an upgrade to a newer device. To not create a firmware update to allow the previous year purchases really sour's me as I feel excluded. You have lost my monthly Netflix money and future $ by not including the 2009 model for your app store. No doubt I would have enjoyed it, but now, the bad decision on something seemingly simple (as Yahoo, Youtube, Amazon, and Blockbuster all figured this out) to either create a widget or more importantly a firmware update to access the app store.

No Samsung, I don't want to be told to purchase a new Blu-ray player so I can access your exclusive app store, I want my recently purchased $2K+ TV to do it.

If there are any updates to this situation, I would like to know, but until then, I will look elsewhere.
